Learn, play & stay at Bathurst Goldfields
Step outside the classroom and into a place where history comes alive. At Bathurst Goldfields, students don’t just learn about the past, they experience it, through hands-on activities, storytelling, and connections to Australia’s colonial heritage. With bushland all around, Mount Panorama at our doorstep, and on-site accommodation to make camps simple, it’s a school trip that feels as memorable as it is meaningful.

Educational tours & activities
Our curriculum-aligned programs are designed to meet the needs of the new NSW Curriculum for the primary years, with a focus on Stage 2 and 3. Each tour brings strong cross-curricular links across history, geography, science, and maths. We have a range of programs on offer both on and offsite; from exploring our Macquarie River tour to walking through carefully reconstructed colonial settings, students are encouraged to investigate, question, and connect learning with lived experience both onsite the Bathurst Goldfields and in the region. Come the evening, keep the colonial experience alive with live Colonial Music around a campfire and line-dancing.

Goldfields reenactment village
Step back into the 1800s in our Goldfields Village — complete with authentic replica buildings, artefacts, and mining equipment. Students can pan for real gold in our flowing panning ponds, try their hand at old trades, make damper, and imagine life in early colonial Australia. With knowledgeable and enthusiastic educators to guide them, history leaps off the page and into their hands.
More than a camp - here, students discover, explore, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Attended with my class as an excursion (one day trip - did not stay overnight). They entire organisation and service was incredible. Amanda super helpful in assisting me with organising the excursion and answering any questions I had. On the day Brian our tour guide was absolutely fabulous. He kept the entire class engaged and shared lots of valuable information. There was lots of hands on activities for the students to participate in including adding on as an extra panning which we all loved. I highly recommend this site as an excursion if your class is learning about the Australian goldrush. I would definitely do it again!

Thank you so much for an educational and fun stay. The kids had a blast and learnt so much. All the staff were amazing – professional, helpful and friendly. Thankyou!
Jaclyn, Herbersham Public School
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you again this year. Gary (our Guide) was amazing with the students. He is engaging and very knowledgeable. The teacher’s food is spectacular, and the students reported that their food was great also. Thank you again for your amazing hospitality. We will be back again next year!
Belinda, Samual Terry Public School
Our Year 2 kids could not stop talking about their visit to the Bathurst Goldfields, saying “best fun ever” and “wish my family could come too” were hears a lot. The guides were amazing – really bringing the whole experience to life for our kids, with their stories, and their willingness to answer every single question our kids asked of them – and there were plenty! The experiences they had, from mudbrick making, damper cooking and gold-panning, were great, but what the kids spoke about most was the stories the Guides told them. Cannot recommend this place enough!!!
